Image: The Goze

A black and white photograph which has been colour tinted by hand - It is of a Goze performer standing Against a course grass and stoney landscape. In three quarters profile, she wears an ankle length red dress, over which is a thick outdoor muddy coloured coat. She wears a lime green cloth tied around the waist of the coat with a further pink belt on top. leaning against her waist is a wooden staff angled out to rest on the ground in front of her, and she wears white socks and simple brown strapped wooden Japanese sandals. Carrying a 3 stringed shamisen instrument, she holds it like a guitar, and her head, which has a white head-wrap, is thrown back as she sings.
